Propositions for Online, Regional and/or Nairobi Meetings

As expected, the Alumni of Lela Mixed Secondary School live, study or work in different parts of the country. It is therefore challenging for most of the alumni to attend the General Meetings held at Lela Mixed Secondary School's Dining Hall. This was the case in the previous Grand Meeting of Lela Alumni in which the attendance wasn't as was expected. While the meeting was a success, many alumni couldn't participate since the venue was somewhat inconveniencing. The meeting of 10th September that never was had the similar constrains. This calls for strategising to have as many alumni as possible actively involved in meetings and deliberations thereof.

One Ken Scientist had a proposal regarding holding of LEMISSA meetings. He opined, "If it's possible, the meeting can be done online because some of us may not be able to attend. I can assist with logistics." Another alumnus, Mr Boniface Okong'o had a different proposition. He thinks it will be better for alumni in Nairobi to meet somewhere in Nairobi for convenience. "Not everyone who would want to can attend that meeting (of alumni at Lela Mixed Secondary School). It would be good if those who are there (at the Lela meeting) and will be back to Nairobi organise a General Mini Meeting here in Nairobi that will act like a briefing forum of wat transpired in the earlier meeting. For those willing and if it is humanly possible, it should be exploited!" he said. He added that "These meetings are meant to grant everyone equal opportunity and is only meant to further the implemention of the agenda of the (LEMISSA's) AGM. It is a good idea if positively exploited."

Granted; not everyone has been (and will be) available for the upcountry meetings. While we seek to uphold the spirit of togetherness, synchrony and harmony in our deliberations the venue notwithstanding, one would acknowledge the idea of organising such REGIONAL MEETINGS as will encourage the active participation of alumni in/at/near that particular geographical area. I bet this explains Boniface Okong'o's call for alumni in Nairobi to meet at an identified venue in Nairobi. Lela Alumni in various universities, colleges and neighbouring institutions are encouraged to adopt such a system as we exploit the possibility of online meeting (which has limitations too). Views of individual members are welcome before a resolution is made to this effect. Still, GENERAL ALUMNI MEETINGS will be organised at Lela Mixed Secondary School to harmonise varying ideologies.

LELA'S CURRENT (AND FIRST FEMALE) PRINCIPAL

Lela takes pride in having a competent
    and success-oriented Principal in
    Mrs. Catherine Olwande, B.Ed.
Known to me personally, she's the most
humble and positive person I've ever met.
She is determined to fulfil her 2010-2014
year strategic plan that seeks to propel
    Lela to heights unimagined before.
Thanks to her, Lela is in a state of revolution
in which Religious Education has since
    overwhelmed the formerly much-hyped
Physics (or sciences). She, like Mr Francis
Odanga, believes in discipline as (being) the
pillar upon which success is built. It is only
    fair that I celebrate her.
~ a loyal and appreciative alumnus.

First Message Sent to Alumni regarding THE GRAND MEETING OF LELA ALUMNI

    • GRAND MEETING OF LELA ALUMNI; CONFIRMATION OF THE MEETING DATE, VENUE & FEASIBILITY
      DISCLAIMER:
Togetherness is strength. When a people pursue a common goal, it is only strategic that the involved parties uphold the spirit of association. They are more – or only – effective when they acknowledge teamwork. And so should we, Alumni of Lela! And this is good for the entire Lela fraternity. To this end, we’ve all agreed that there is need to institute a functional Alumni Association in which we, Lela’s old students, will endeavor to contribute actively to reclaiming our beloved school’s ‘lost glory’, boost and better its dwindling performance and, in whichever way practical, pay back to an institution that molded us into whatever we currently are. The existence of one LOSA (Lela Old Students’ Association) remains unconfirmed and ambiguous if not mysterious. Granted – and only if it is there at all – it has been inactive for the past seven years or so. This has since informed the proposition to establish LEMISSA (Lela Mixed Secondary School Alumni Association). Further deliberations with regards to founding LEMISSA or reviving LOSA are anticipated. Such and more issues will be discussed and treated accordingly in this scheduled meeting. Pass this message to – and invite – all alumni to whom you are accessible.

      [4] Who are the Organizers?
